Subject: MI 1/2 Marathon - 3/9/08 - 1:51:32
Avg HR = 165
Max HR = 181
This is my PR by ~0:02:20. My previous PR was last years MI.
I followed the plan pretty well…
Based upon the Issaquah 10k, my goal is 1:54:43 with a pace of 8:46/mi. My LT is 167.
First 3 miles would be 5-10seconds below goal pace so 8:51-9:01. For the Seattle ½ marathon, I took it too slow so I’m going to really watch this. – MY AVERAGE HR FOR THE FIRST 3 MILES WAS 159 & MY PACE WAS 8:28
Mile 4-10 my HR should be at 160-165 – MY AVERAGE HR FOR MILES 4-10 WAS 167 & MY AVERAGE PACE WAS 8:30
Mile 11-finish my HR should be above 167. – MY AVERAGE HR FOR MILES 11-FINISH WAS 168 & MY AVERAGE PACE WAS 8:34
I feel really good about my race. I really wasn’t expecting to be below my last years time… I was running so many more miles last year, I have gained almost 15 pounds and I didn’t taper this year. I think I could have done a little better if I had a better attitude. My planned HR’s kind of scared me. I wish I would have looked at my Seattle ½ marathon’s HR’s because my average HR for the last 3 miles on the Seattle my HR was 176. I don’t think I pushed it enough on the MI ½ marathon. It reminded me of that article you sent last week… it was like I was scared of the pain or something. I did push it the last mile, but my HR wasn’t that high going up the hill at mile 11. This is all in retrospect. I know that day I didn’t feel like I had it in me to push more.
I’ve taken the 2 day recovery like you planned for me and I’m looking forward to our long weekend away skiing!!!
Thanks for all your help in achieving my PR Jill!
