My friend Mike Taber passed away this morning leaving behind a loving wife and two young sons after a year long battle with cancer. It was Mike's diagnosis with lymphoma that inspired me to put our JFT2 foursome together for the Pineapple Classic this last fall. I hope we can do this again next year and raise more money so they can find a cure.
The Winter Pineapple Classic is on November 14 this year. Team JFT2 will be making this a team event, as well as our team charity for this season. More details to come.
Welcome to 2009! 2008 was a great year for Team JFT2, as the team has continued to grow. For the upcoming year, there will be no fee to join the team. The only commitment to be on the team is to purchase the team uniform. We may ask for some volunteering, and some of our leaders have already stepped up to the plate.
If you are interested in learning what Team JFT2 is all about send an email to jft2@live.com and ask how to join the team.
We will be posting information about upcoming winter meetings and training activities on the forum. Also, check out the team's new Athlinks site.
STEVE LARSEN MEMORIAL
On behalf of the entire Team JFT2, our heartfelt condolensces go out to the friends and family of Steve Larsen.
Message from Michael Nyberg
By now I am sure you have heard the news of Steve Larsen's sudden and untimely passing. Steve collapsed during a workout Tuesday evening and despite their immediate attention medical professionals were unable to resuscitate him.
Though his athletic ability was extraordinary, his greatest treasure and passion was his wife and five children. The love he shared with them and from them was his greatest gift and accomplishment.
Thank you to all of you who have sent notes of condolence, and for your thoughts and prayers. It has been amazing how the triathlon and cycling community have rallied around the family with support. It's a testimony to Steve's impact and legacy and to the 'family' that is Triathlon.
